Expert Fiberglass Repairs Made Easy
Fiberglass stringers provide the backbone of the fiberglass boat. They run the length of the hull, stiffening the bottom and sides, and transferring loads from the deck and superstructure. Stringers also support engines, fuel tanks, and other heavy components.
Over time, stringers can fail due to:
- Water intrusion into wood cores, causing rot
- Delamination of fiberglass skins from vibration and stress
- Cracking around engine mounts and supports
- Poor original construction in some factory boats
Once weakened, stringers compromise hull integrity and make boats unsafe.
Captain Dave and Captain Levi Holley repair and replace fiberglass stringers using:
- Careful inspection and grinding to remove compromised laminate
- Replacement cores of wood, foam, or composite depending on design
- Epoxy and vinyl ester resins for high strength and permanent bonding
- Biaxial and woven fiberglass fabrics laminated under vacuum if required
- Proper tabbing to hull sides and bulkheads for structural integration
- Engine bed re‑alignment as needed to factory specifications
With proper materials and workmanship, new stringers are stronger than original factory construction. Boats gain back their structural integrity and value.
